As soon as we saw how huge Cape Town was, we knew we would not have enough time to see all that we wanted to see adequately without a bus tour. We did the “Red City Tour” on the red open-top buses and were able to on hop-on, hop-off at our leisure.
It was also nice that our hotel was only a minute walk from one of the bus stops. It screams “tourist”, but was an excellent way to see all the major parts of Cape Town. We wish we would have had one more day to take part in the scenic “Blue Mini Peninsula Tour” as well. We found the audio on the tour to be decent and informative. The buses also come every 15 minutes, so by the time you’re done at any of the stops, you are not left waiting very long for the next bus to come.
The only bummer about our time in Cape Town was that Table Mountain was closed every day we were there.
Here are several photos we took while riding the Red City Tour bus:
What do you think of hop-on, hop off tours? Have you had a good or bad experience using one?
