Whether we are traveling, or being a tourist in our town, we love to make the most we can out of our lives and have as many fun experiences as we can. With myself (Debbie), the crazier and more outside of the box it is, the better.
We have been known to Road Trip to cool events, and previously have driven into Washington to participate in the Dirty Dash and to Whistler for the Warrior Dash. We had yet to do a run with color, so when this run was right on our doorstep at the Cloverdale Fairgrounds in Surrey, BC, I couldn’t resist tho opportunity to be blasted with rainbow-hued cornstarch. And, it was for a good cause. Partial proceeds went to Keep A Breast Canada.
Upon arriving, you were greeted with a ton of color. Anyone who had purchased “Color Bombs” were having color fights before the race even began. During the race there were several blow-up arch stations where you ran through to be doused with color of the arch, and where you couldn’t even see in front of you as there was so much color flying everywhere. Color runs are loosely based on the Hindu festival of colors.
The 5k route was a decent one. It was more of a “fun” run than a competition, but if you had a good run between color stations, you still left with a pretty good workout under your belt. Regardless of your ability level, everyone seemed to be laughing the whole time, regardless of if they ran or walked the route.
Those who dressed in white looked the best afterwards as the color was able to show better. I was super stoked with how colorful I was by race end.
The event itself seemed to be well organized and if it hit our neck of the woods again, we would definitely be there. We left having had a great time, some good laughs and painted like rainbows. Color Me Rad made our day that much brighter.
What is one of the coolest runs you have participated in?
