Taking The Kids To Benidorm: Top Tips For Organizing The Perfect Family Holiday
Benidorm is a popular holiday destination for Brits every year, offering sun, sea and sand at a low cost. If you’re planning to travel with a young family, you’re probably wondering what different activities are available once you arrive.
The seaside town offers numerous leisure options for the whole family, ranging from theme parks to adventures out at sea. Many of the hotels in Benidorm will also have some form of entertainment for the children, ranging from watersports activities in the daytime to live performance shows at night.
If you’re trying to plan the perfect family getaway to Benidorm and aren’t sure what to do, we’ve got you covered. Here are our top tips for organizing an amazing family holiday you’ll never forget in the ‘Mediterranean Manhattan’.
Discover Benidorm Island
A great advantage of Benidorm being located on the coast is that there’s the option to venture out to sea. One location, in particular, you should visit is the Island of Benidorm, a small paradise that is only accessible by boat.
A somewhat peculiar island with barely any vegetation, it is uninhabited at night but swarmed by visitors during the day. There is a bar and restaurant located here and you’re free to explore the island on foot.
We recommend taking the glass bottom boat there so your little ones can discover all the exotic marine life that lives there. They’ll also be able to see all of the different species of sea birds that nest in the area.
Go On An Adventure At Aqualandia
Located on the outskirts of Benidorm, Aqualandia was Spain’s first-ever water park – and is still one of the largest in the world! The kids will love the variety of water slides, chute rides and wave pools.
There are also attractions for the older kids and adults, including adrenaline-inducing drop slides and a man-made beach, perfect for those who want a few hours of peace and quiet during their stay.
With a selection of restaurants and shops available, it’s easy to spend the majority of the day here. This is a godsend during the intense summer months where a cool dip in the water is needed.
Spot The Animals At Terra Natura
What kids don’t love animals? If your little one’s are down for getting up close and personal with animals from all over the globe, Terra Natura is the perfect place to visit during your trip. The theme park is divided into different areas to showcase the animals and birds specific to each continent.
There is also a variety of rides, animal shows and snack outlets found here to make sure you’re well looked after during your stay. You may even decide to come back during your holiday, given there’s so much to do – just remember that passes valid for more than one day are better value than day tickets.
Not only will your kids leave with the most exciting memories but they’ll have also learnt something about the wildlife they saw during the day.
Relax At One Of The Many Bars
As odd as this sounds, the bars in Spain are completely different from your typical bars at home. The family-friendly bars in Benidorm are ideal for families to hang out together and chat with other holiday-goers.
You’ll also find that most offer the chance of signing your heart out at karaoke or get the kids active playing some games. Either way, you’ll be glad to sit back and relax with a drink in your hand.
After a long day of travelling, it’s probably best to take it steady when you arrive and spend the afternoon in a bar. Taking time to recuperate after your flight ensures you’re ready for the adventures that await the next day.
Remember, you’ll need to travel from Alicante airport, so it’s best to arrange a transfer from Alicante to Benidorm for when your flight arrives. Trust us, you don’t want to be waiting at the airport for hours with impatient toddlers!
Take A Trip To The Beach
Whilst a pool is great for cannonballs and handstands, nothing can beat the beach. The sand between your toes and the salty smell of the sea is something you don’t normally experience at home and is reserved for those special holidays abroad.
Levante Beach is one of the best in Benidorm, hosting a variety of exciting water sports throughout the day. Around you, you’ll find an assortment of bars and restaurants to choose from – or simply just find yourself a sunbed to relax for the remainder of the day.
Nearby, you can also find Festilandia, a fun fair that is free to enter with lots of rides for the kids. Though it is aimed at children under the age of 12, there is an arcade and golf course available here, perfect for all members of the family.
It’s a great place to entertain the children for a few hours and even has a mini train that leaves every half hour to take you through the streets of Benidorm – perfect for those days where you run out of ideas for what to do.
Take The Wheel At High Speeds
Our last suggestion, and probably the most thrilling, is to take the kids karting. If you’re quite a competitive family, Karting Benidorm is the perfect place to demonstrate your skills. Here you’ll get to spend your afternoon speeding around sharp corners and crashing into tyres.
It might not be your first thought for an activity when on holiday but it’ll definitely be one you’ll never forget.
