In this blog post, we will take you on a journey through the world of bees, and Campbell’s Gold Honey Farm and Meadery, giving you an idea of what this honey farm is all about!
What Is A Honey Farm?
A honey farm, also known as an apiary, is a place where bees are kept in hives to produce honey. These farms can range from small-scale operations with just a few hives to large commercial operations with hundreds of hives.
The process of producing honey starts with the bees collecting nectar and storing it in their honeycombs. The nectar is then converted into honey through enzymatic reactions and evaporation. Beekeepers carefully manage the hives and extract the honey when it is ready to be harvested.

The Role Of Bees In Our Ecosystem
In addition to creating delicious honey, bees are vital to our ecosystem. They play a key role in pollinating a significant portion of our food supply, including fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Without bees, our food sources would face serious consequences, highlighting the importance of honey farms not only for honey production but also for the overall health of our environment.

The Fascinating World Of Mead
Mead is an alcoholic beverage (19+) made from fermented honey, water, and sometimes other ingredients like fruits or spices. It has been enjoyed by humans for thousands of years and was even considered the “nectar of the gods” in ancient civilizations.
Campbell’s Gold offers a wide variety of delicious meads, including both dry and sweet options. The melomels are crafted by infusing fruit, while cysors feature the addition of apples, pyments incorporate grapes, and metheglin includes zests and a blend of spices.
Campbell’s Gold cultivates a diverse range of crops for their bees, enabling them to create over thirty styles of honey wine. All of their wines are meticulously crafted at their family store, and they use 80% of the fruit from their farm!
One of our favourites is the Cranberry Melomel, the Crofter’s Choice.
