Disney’s Hollywood Studios Captivated Our Imaginations with so many of our favorite characters. We absolutely loved Toy Story Land. The level of detail was mind-blowing and really started to get us excited for the new Toy Story 4, out June 21st. During the Disney Dopey Challenge runs and walking around Toy Story Land, the green army men were a favorite; they are so comical, while at the same time, making you want to get down and give them twenty.
Another highlight was the Beauty and the Beast show. If you have been following our adventures for a while, I’m very open about how much I LOVE Beauty and the Beast, so seeing the Broadway-style musical with all the character costumes was a dream come true. It was highly entertaining and so well put together. And of course, being Disney, the costumes were beyond impressive.
Seeing the Indiana Jones stunt show was mind-blowing as well — the danger and immaculate timing and detail that goes into it, or thinking of filming a movie of that caliber, are intense.
And, of course, we cannot forget our love for Star Wars. Darcy can speak Shyriiwook, so when we saw Chewbacca it was hilarious to watch them have a quick conversation before snapping a photo. Having Storm Troopers marching really made you hope they didn’t see you “step out of line”. Disney does such an amazing job of bringing the characters to life.
Muppet Vision 3D is also always a winner. I grew up in the era of the Muppets, so it is nice to go back in time to my childhood. The kids enjoyed it too, but they really do not have any idea how incredible the Muppets were growing up. The remake the kids have seen a couple of times is nowhere near the awesome that I watched as a kid.
One of the highlights for Sadie was the preschool characters. We got to the area for photos near the end of our day and Madison was starting to get super grumpy from being so tired. She was refusing to have any photos, so Sadie went through the lines herself. Princess Sophia really took a liking to Sadie and when her line died down, she personally took Sadie to the next couple characters and put her at the front of the line to meet her “friends”. It was super sweet and Sadie felt like such a special Princess. She was beaming and even now when she talks about it, she just GLOWS. Madison eventually came around and wanted the photos, realizing that she would be sad later if she did not take them.
It did feel like we only needed one day in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to fit in all the fun. There were several highlights, but they were totally doable in a day. It felt like there was a lot of filler in the park otherwise, but the parts that we did love, Disney did really, really well.
