History Of The Enchanted Forest

In an effort to display her unique cement sculptures of fairytale characters, Doris Needham sought out a secluded setting and found one in Revelstoke during the 1950s. Along with her husband Ernest, they established The Enchanted Forest where you find it today- all thanks to Doris’ extraordinary craftsmanship!

As a retirement project, the Needhams spent eight of the forty acres of forest to create something extraordinary over the course of the next ten years. All components were built with their own two hands – including pathways, fairytale sculptures, and even an enchanting castle!

On July 1, 1960 The Enchanted Forest opened its gates to all and within a decade had welcomed an astounding one million people eager to explore its magical wonders! The Needhams, nevertheless, soon realized that their work was too much for them to handle and sold the forest so they could retire and relish in their achievements. Rocky and Juliet Ehlers became the new proprietors of this land with their three kids.
