The Magic Of The Cultus Lake Flower Festival

Last Updated on June 23, 2022

We all know how much joy a bouquet of flowers can bring, but flowers are so much more than something pretty in a vase.

I’m all about feeling the magic of nature. What better place to feel the magic than among fields of colourful blooms?

Over the years, sunflowers have become my favourite flower. Sunflowers are bright, cheery, and always boost my mood. I love nothing more than wandering through towering sunflowers. Pair them with some easily accessible wildflowers… and you have me intrigued.

Cannot beat views like this!

Cultus Lake Flower Festival

The Cultus Lake Flower Festival is one that we discovered only last year and it still remains relatively low-key and unknown. After exploring the fields for the last two years, I almost did not want to share this with you all; it is a secret I wish I could keep. Nestled against the mountains on a family farm near Cultus Lake, and near Chilliwack and Abbotsford, the mountains are a stunning backdrop for the flower field.

The Cultus Lake flower festival is bigger and better than ever this year in 2021. It felt like you were in a fairytale. It was magical. I know I throw that word around a lot. However, it really felt amazing with the sun shining bright, with the kids running around the paths with so much laughter, while surrounded by such beauty. Precious moments really do not get better than that.

Plus, with outdoor activities at an all-time high over the last year and a bit, the Cultus Lake Flower Festival is an excellent way to spend some time outdoors. You are sure to feel relaxed and relieved as you wander the fields, after having to be cooped up for so long. We sure felt it!

Where Is Cultus Lake?

Cultus Lake is a town in British Columbia, Canada. It is located in the Fraser Valley region, about 70 kilometres east of Vancouver. The town is situated on the shore of Cultus Lake, which is a popular destination for swimming, boating, and fishing. The lake is fed by runoff from nearby mountains, and its outlet is the Cultus River, which flows into the Fraser River.  The lake is also home to a wide variety of wildlife, including ducks, geese, and turtles. Cultus Lake Park is open year-round and offers camping, picnicking, and hiking opportunities.

You’ll notice in the below photos just how much my kids have grown in a year!

A Family Flower Farm

Jesse and his wife have turned their home property into a dreamy family flower farm. They have worked hard to create a place where people can come together to enjoy the beauty of nature and feel the magic of the seemingly endless flowers. Visitors to the farm can take a scenic stroll through the gardens, view the flowers being grown, and even take a bouquet home. Jesse and his wife are passionate about sharing their love of flowers with others, and their farm is a reflection of that passion.

Cultus Flower Festival Admission

Another thing we love about this flower field is that they keep it affordable for families to visit.

General admission tickets are just $10 and kids under 10 years old are free.

Tickets need to be purchased ahead of time online. You can purchase tickets online HERE.

When To Visit

The Cultus Lake Flower Festival is open July 17, 2021 – September 1, 2021.

The fields are open from 11am – 8pm every day.

If you are planning on going on a weekend, try to go as close to opening as you can. We love having the field almost to ourselves for the first bit of our visit.

So Much Variety!

Cultus Lake is the place to be for all you aspiring flower lovers. You can explore acres and varieties of dahlias, zinnias, wildflowers,  lavender and sunflower fields with their unique colours that will take your breath away!

Bring A Picnic

There is something about a flower field that just screams picnics. Maybe it is the colorful array of blooms or the sweet fragrance in the air. Or maybe it is the overall feeling of peace and relaxation that comes from being surrounded by nature. Whatever the reason, picnicking in a flower field is a truly unique experience. And there is no better way to enjoy it than by bringing along a picnic. That way, you can take your time and really savor the moment. Relax on a blanket or at one of the picnic tables with a good book or have a leisurely conversation with friends. Soak up the beauty of the flowers and let all your worries drift away. It is an experience you will never forget.
