The Wigwams Motel teepees are a fantastic sight as you pass by while traveling through Holbrook, Arizona along Route 66. There are only 3 of these complexes left in the United States.
Debbie is all about staying in unique places (remember the Dog Bark Park Inn?), so the Wigwam was added to our travel list right away when this trip was decided.
Our only real letdown was that it did seem a little hard for us to fall asleep with the trains that seemed to pass by at least every half hour. Thankfully Madison is used to sleeping with noise and this didn’t effect her sleeping at all.
The rooms are clean enough, though not upgraded at all inside, and the teepees smell dated, but the rooms were still comfortable and warm enough with the heater provided.
The bathroom and shower were super small, but we were honestly surprised at all that was able to fit inside a teepee.
If you’re not afraid to experience something a little more retro, you’ll enjoy your stay. You just have to remember the purpose of staying at a Wigwam is more for the novelty, and not for the luxury of a hotel. We really enjoyed seeing the classic cars permanently parked throughout the property; our stay was definitely a unique experience!
This was hands down the most memorable accommodation on our Route 66 trip.
Where is the coolest place you have slept on your travels?
