A Rustic Cabin In The Woods On Galiano Island

Last Updated on May 11, 2022

We are huge on finding unique accommodation whenever possible. To get that unique accommodation, we also do not mind “roughing it” a bit. When we spotted this cute cabin in the woods on Galiano Island on Airbnb, we knew we had found the next great place to stay.

Where Is Galiano Island?

Galiano Island is one of the Southern Gulf Islands located in British Columbia, Canada. It is situated just north of Salt Spring Island and south of Mayne Island. Galiano Island is known for its mountainous terrain, forests, and coastline. There are several small bays and harbors located around the island, and it is a popular destination for kayakers and hikers. The island also has a number of artist studios, cafes, and galleries. Despite its semi-remote location, Galiano Island is easily accessible by ferry from Vancouver and Victoria.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities on the island, including exploring the trails in the popular Bodega Ridge Provincial Park and Mount Galiano, or simply relaxing on one of the many beaches.

Small-Town Vibe

Galiano Island has a friendly and relaxed small-town vibe that makes it a great place to visit.  We love a place where even with full ferries during the summer months, you would never know how many people are actually around you.

Galiano Island Rustic Cabin Charm

There’s something charming about rustic cabins. Maybe it’s the way they hearken back to a simpler time, or the way they evoke feelings of comfort and safety. Whatever the reason, there’s no denying that rustic cabins have a special place in our hearts. Perhaps it’s because they remind us of a time when life was less complicated. Or maybe it’s because they provide a perfect opportunity to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Either way, there’s no doubt that rustic cabins have a unique appeal.

So if you’re looking for a charming getaway, be sure to check out this rustic cabin on Galiano Island.

There was an outdoor shower, an outhouse, and complete privacy. Inside the cabin was all the basics, and included anything you would need for your stay. It was cozy.  There is no TV or much cell service, but if you want to get away from all that, this is a great Galiano Island accommodation option.

An Excellent Home Base For Exploring

This accommodation on Galiano Island was a perfect home base for all of the exploring on Galiano. You get to wake up to nature, with some extra creature comforts. As long as you are not squeamish of frogs and a few cobwebs (adding to the rustic nature), the cabin is a fun and private place to have some peace. I mention the frogs because each day we would go to have a shower and we would have to shoo out our red-legged frog shower buddy. One time we didn’t realize the cabin door wasn’t shut all the way, and he even got to go for an adventure hopping around the cabin. Our red-legged friend was totally harmless and would announce his arrival with the echoing of his “ribbit, ribbit” from the shower. It really gave us a great laugh each day when it was shower time after a long day of hiking in the summer sunshine.

Check-In Procedure

We stayed during the coronavirus pandemic, and there was contactless check-in; we actually did not see the hosts at all.
