Pemberton’s Maze Of 100,000 Smiling Sunflowers

Last Updated on June 23, 2022

Ever thought that you could walk amongst 100,000 sunflowers? There is nothing quite like it. Find out what it feels like at the Pemberton Sunflower Festival in their sunflower maze!

Pemberton Sunflower Festival

Nestled in the heart of Pemberton farm country, the sunflower maze at Laughing Crow Organics is a must-see for any flower lover. Come August, the fields are ablaze with color as over a million sunflowers reach for the sky. Visitors can meander through the winding paths, stopping to take in the fragrance and beauty of the blossoms. With photo ops around every turn, the maze is also a great place to capture some stunning summer memories. So whether you’re looking for a fun summer outing or a unique photo op, be sure to check out the sunflower maze at Laughing Crow Organics.

A two-hour drive from Vancouver will take you right past Whistler and into Pemberton. You may recognize the city name from our trip there earlier this summer to go camping at Birkenhead Provincial Park, where we had a wonderful time surrounded by so much breathtaking beauty. Before that camping trip, it had been years since we ventured past Whistler into Pemberton. When this sunflower maze passed my inbox, I was super excited to get back out there and see more. Pemberton is beautiful.

Summertime In Beautiful BC

Summer is a great time to visit British Columbia! The weather is warm and the landscape is lush and green. There are plenty of things to do, both outdoors and indoors. You can explore the mountains or go for a hike, enjoy the beaches or take a boat tour, go golfing or play in parks. Or you could visit some of the gorgeous flower fields that pop up all summer long. Whatever your interests, British Columbia has something for you.

If you are looking for a beautiful and unique photo opportunity, sunflower fields are starting to become more popular. Be sure to check out the nearest field for all your Instagram photos.

August is the ultimate best time to be in British Columbia.

A Breathtaking Backdrop of Mt. Currie

What makes the sunflower maze that much more magical is the backdrop. Located at Laughing Crow Organic Farm, you’ll gaze out into what feels like an endless array of sunflowers, with the view of Mt. Currie in the background. To say it was breathtaking is an understatement. It is the perfect location for a sunflower festival in British Columbia.

Mount Currie is a breathtaking sight. Its north face dominates the “skyline” of the Pemberton Valley, and it is the northernmost summit of the Garibaldi Ranges in southwestern British Columbia. Mount Currie has an elevation of 9,090-foot and it’s a popular destination for hikers and climbers. The mountain is a beautiful sight to behold and it’s definitely worth admiring if you are ever in the area.

The Sunflower Maze

Even better, was that we arrived bright and early to wander the field. On a Monday morning, we had the field to ourselves for an hour.

There were a few areas carved out as well that you could step into, to be able to give adequate space to others to pass by. It makes the mark as a perfect social distancing activity; hand sanitizer is included at the entrance.

Let The Kids Lead Through The Sunflower Maze

As any parent knows, kids love to explore. They’re constantly trying to find new ways to test their boundaries and discover the world around them. So why not let them lead the way through a sunflower maze? They’ll be thrilled to be in charge, and you’ll get to enjoy watching them take charge and navigate their way through the twists and turns. Plus, it’s a great way to get some fresh air and exercise. So next time you’re looking for a fun activity for the kids, remember that sometimes it’s best to just let them lead the way.

We had so much fun wandering around the maze. To sweeten the experience, I told Madison, Sadie, and Jacob that it was their job to find our way out. If they found the way out before we did, they would each get a double scoop ice cream cone. Is there really anything better than sunflowers and ice cream? The kids were excellent guides and there was so much laughter as we found our way to the exit.

A Secret We Cannot Keep

While this is a secret I would love to keep, let’s spread the word so they do it again next year. It is only the third year of the sunflower maze, and we are hopeful they decide to do it again next year so we can return for some more sunflower magic.

A Learning Opportunity

Through the sunflower maze, there were a couple of posters of facts, and quotes that sparked a lot of conversation.  We were able to learn about bees, the lifecycle of sunflowers, and other fun nature facts. The posters added that extra bit of magic and understanding. It is a great way to learn when you are surrounded by the topic. We love hands-on learning!

The Beer Farmers

The Beer Farmers grow great beer, from grain to glass. After you have had fun completing the maze, head over to The Beer Farmers for a refreshing cold one. The Tasting Room and Brewery are both located just steps from the sunflower field, right in the middle of the beautiful Laughing Crow Organics farm.

We Found Our Way Out!

There were so many smiles and so much laughter as we made our way through the sunflower maze. The sunflower field was definitely full of smiling sunflowers; we sure felt the happy vibes being surrounded by them! This is definitely one of the best sunflower locations near Vancouver. It was completely worth the drive.

Nearby Attractions

The sunflower maze was such a fun outing with the kids. After the sunflower maze, we made our way into Whistler for some time at Lost Lake and to hike to a train wreck. We can never resist stopping in Whistler when we are passing through! There is so much to do in Whistler, you will find the options are endless.

If you love chasing waterfalls as much as we do, a nearby waterfall is Nairn Falls. It is a nice little hike to the falls. You will find Nairn Falls a short 5 minutes from Pemberton town center.
