Where Is The Hobbit House?

The Hobbit house is located near Orondo,  a small town located in the north-central part of Washington state, approximately 30 miles southeast of Wenatchee. The town is situated on the banks of the Columbia River, which provides a beautiful natural setting.

Despite its remote location, Orondo is home to a variety of businesses and amenities, including a grocery store, a hardware store, and several restaurants. Outdoor enthusiasts will find plenty to do in the area, with hiking, camping, and fishing all nearby. Orondo may not be a major tourist destination, but it offers a charming small-town atmosphere that visitors are sure to enjoy.

Sleeping In A Hobbit House

Sleeping in a Hobbit house is a uniquely magical experience. The round, earthen dwellings are warm and cushy, and their small size makes them feel cozy and comforting. The doors and windows are designed to let in natural light and fresh air, and the thatched roofs help to keep the inside temperature regulated.

Most importantly, Hobbit houses have a special connection to the land. Like this Hobbit house, they are often built into hillsides or into the roots of trees, making them seem like they are part of the landscape itself. As a result, sleeping in a Hobbit house is like sleeping in nature—something that not many people can say they’ve done. Whether you’re lucky enough to stay in one on your next vacation or looking for a unique accommodation experience, sleeping in a Hobbit house is sure to be unforgettable.

Hobbit House, Washington

As you walk up the pathway to the Hobbit hole house, you can feel the excitement building. The round doorway is like a portal to another world, and you can’t wait to see what lies beyond. As you step through, you’re met with an amazing sight. Before you stretches a breathtaking vista, filled with wonder and amazement. Every nook and cranny of this little habitation is brimming with charm and character. You can’t help but be drawn in by the magic of the place. It’s an unforgettable journey that you’ll always treasure.

Architecture that complements its natural surroundings always catches my eye. This inspired dwelling is the perfect example of form meeting function to create a beautiful and serene space. The home is nestled right into the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge mountainside, making the most of the stunning views. The windows and outdoor living spaces help to bring the outside in, while still providing plenty of privacy.

The builders took care to create a space that felt like you were really stepping into the Shire.

Researching different Hobbit houses that you can sleep in, this Hobbit house really caught our eye because of the attention to detail. We are confident to say that this Hobbit house in Washington is one of, if not the best, in the United States.

Parking At The Hobbit House

After a short drive down a winding dirt road, you’ll come to a parking area at the bottom of Hobbit hill. The hike to the top is short but up an incline, so be sure to pack light! The trail is easy to follow. As you walk, you’ll get glimpses of the Hobbit house. Soon, you’ll come to where the house is perched atop but in the hillside. Take a moment to catch your breath as you walk through the gate and enjoy the view before going inside to explore!

You’re treated to incredible views as you take the winding dirt road up to Hobbit Inn.

Best Time To Visit

This is a four seasons accommodation option. It would be a gorgeous place to stay throughout any season.

However, when winter comes to the Hobbit house, it brings with it snow and ice. This can make getting to the house difficult, especially if you’re not used to driving in winter weather. However, if you take some precautions, you should be able to get to the house without any problems. First, make sure you have a set of chains for your tires. This will help you get traction on the icy roads. Second, drive slowly and carefully. Winter weather can be unpredictable, so it’s important to take your time and avoid sudden maneuvers. With a little preparation, you’ll be able to reach the Hobbit house safely in any weather. Snow is likely from December – March.

Amenities

You are provided with all the essentials you need for your stay. There is no cooking area, but you can bring a camp stove to cook a meal outdoors. There is a coffee maker provided.

You’re in the middle of nowhere, so there is no tv or wi-fi, and being disconnected felt SO good!

Pre-Download A Soundtrack

The Hobbit house may be off the grid, but you will want to bring some pre-downloaded Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit soundtracks or movies on your phone or tablet. It really adds to the experience, and we honestly felt like we had stepped right into the Shire.

We had an incredible and lazy morning sipping coffee on the deck, admiring the breathtaking scenery. This is a truly special place that would be perfect for anyone who loves nature and desires a tranquil retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

There are a couple of small houses in view, but it still felt like we were the only ones around. However, we did notice a partially built Hobbit hole. The guestbook mentioned future plans for three Hobbit houses, including a community kitchen, that would make it a fun Shire to rent out with friends to share in the experience.
