There are picnic tables located only a few steps from the viewing platform of the falls, in forested clearings that were once campsites. And, with all the breathtaking scenery, it’s easy to spend an afternoon relaxing and enjoying a meal in nature while listening to the rushing water from Alexander Falls.

There is a small parking lot at the falls, with Alexander Falls only steps from your vehicle.

Hiking To Alexander Falls

There is not a marked trail, but more adventurous visitors can find their way to the base of the falls, to really feel the power of the rushing water and the mist on their faces. Keep in mind that though it has been done, it is dangerous to try to reach the bottom of the falls in the summer months.

In the winter, there is a snowshoe trail that takes you to the bottom of the falls. To access the trail, you will need to purchase a ticket from the Callaghan admission gate.

How To Get To Alexander Falls

The best way to get to Alexander Falls and the Callaghan Valley is by car. Having a vehicle will give you the most freedom. If you do not have a vehicle, you can call a taxi for a quick trip to the falls if you are staying in Whistler. However, that is not a cheap option.

To get to Alexander Falls, drive south from Whistler for 10km. Turn right onto Callaghan Valley Road, and follow the paved road for another 8km. Turn left into the large parking lot for Alexander Falls. If you find the turnoff to the Callaghan Lake Park or at the switchback which takes you to the Whistler Olympic Park, you have gone too far. You will see the waterfall viewing platform at the corner of the parking lot. Watch for wildlife as it is very common to see black bears in the area.

Make sure you have good winter tires if you plan to visit Whistler during the winter.
