🎡 Bet you didn’t know BC has a theme park thi 🎡 Bet you didn’t know BC has a theme park this epic...

We spent the day at Cultus Lake Adventure Park, and it totally wowed us! Tucked into the Fraser Valley, this park is full of bright, whimsical theming that gives it that charming, old-school amusement park feel — but with updated thrills the whole family will love.

The kids were obsessed with the colourful buildings and fun details around every corner. Between rides, we even squeezed in a round of mini-golf, which was a huge hit!

Ride-wise? The Cloud Buster gave us that full stomach-drop (adults included 🙋‍♀️), and Round-Up 360 had us spinning and laughing like crazy. There’s something here for every age and thrill level.

We stuck to the rides this visit, but here’s something you might want to take advantage of: the Slide & Ride Pass. One pass = start your day off @cultuslakewaterpark with thrilling slides and then hop over to @cultuslakeadventurepark for thrilling rides — the ultimate way to beat the summer heat while packing in all the fun.

BC’s biggest waterpark = BIG thrills @cultuslake BC’s biggest waterpark = BIG thrills @cultuslakewaterpark 💦☀️

And this time, we had another brave kiddo join the club — Sadie conquered the Free Fall slide (a 72ft vertical drop)! 🙌

From the Colossal Canyon to the Valley of Fear, this place is packed with slides that’ll get your heart racing (and your kids begging for one more round).

★ VIP vibes? Yes please. The new two-story ★Grandview Cabana★ puts you right in the center of the splash action. Or kick back in a ★Poolside Cabana★ while the chaos unfolds around you.

🎟 Pro tip: Grab a ★Slide & Ride Pass★ to start your day at the Waterpark and finish with thrills at the @cultuslakeadventurepark across the street — made for families who want to do it all.

Open daily ‘til Sept 1st — rain or shine!

You’ve probably heard of Wells Gray, in British You’ve probably heard of Wells Gray, in British Columbia — the park with over 41 named waterfalls. You’ve definitely heard of the Icefields Parkway in Alberta. But tucked right between them is a lesser-known adventure: @BlueRiverSafari — where you can spot bears by boat in the world’s only inland temperate rainforest. Total BC hidden gem.

Sometimes it’s one bear, sometimes it’s more — but it’s just as exciting every time. 🐻💚 We spotted a single bear on our Blue River Safari this trip, and honestly? Watching another family see their first-ever bear made it even better. Their excitement was contagious!

Wildlife isn’t guaranteed, but that’s part of the magic. Boats, rainforest, fresh air, and the chance to share a moment like that together — it’s 100% BC bucket list energy.

If you’re lucky, one of their pups will join you. We had Ringo — part-time kid cuddler, full-time speedboat co-pilot helping search for bears.

✨ Why we recommend the River Safari (1.75 hours):
— Catamaran + jet boat = relaxing AND exciting
— Up to 12 km along Grizzly Bear Valley
— Deeper into bear & moose habitat than the shorter Eco option

🐻 Ticket Pricing (2025):
— Eco Safari (1 hr, catamaran only):
Adults CA$90 | Youth (12–15) CA$54 | Child (5–11) CA$45 | Infant (0–4) Free
— River Safari (1.75 hrs, catamaran + jet boat):
Adults CA$135 | Youth CA$94.50 | Child CA$81 | Infant (0–4) Free

After your safari, don’t miss the Forest Table Restaurant — perched on a floating dock with live-edge giant tables, solid wood-carved seating, stunning riverside views, and artwork captured from the tours. Local Canadian fare, fresh daily.

Tucked away just outside Hope, BC — Lake of the Tucked away just outside Hope, BC — Lake of the Woods is proof that rest stops can lead to real adventures 🌲💧

Pulled over for a quick break… stayed for the lake! This emerald-colored gem surprised us in the best way 💦

Lake of the Woods is more than just a rest stop—it’s perfect for a swim, a picnic, or simply relaxing by the water. There’s even fishing if you bring a rod 🎣

Other nearby gems? Kawkawa Lake Park, Coquihalla Canyon (hello, Othello Tunnels!), and Hell’s Gate are all less than an hour away and worth exploring too.

‼️ Heads up: Because this highway rest area is popular swimming spot in the summer it can be very busy and difficult to find parking on hot summer days especially on the weekends. The parking lot is super small.

🚨 RETRO HOTEL ALERT! 🚨 We stayed at the new 🚨 RETRO HOTEL ALERT! 🚨

We stayed at the newly renovated Hotel Zed Victoria 🇨🇦 and it’s like stepping into the coolest time machine ever—bold colors, vintage vibes, and Grandma’s Basement (yep, it’s real and totally groovy). [hosted]

It’s an easy ferry ride from Vancouver and the location is amazing—just minutes from popular attractions and the waterfront, so exploring Victoria is a breeze.

But honestly? You might not want to leave the hotel…

🛼 Free rentals: bikes, roller skates, skateboards & longboards
🌊 Indoor pool with a waterslide (our 5-year-old says she went down it “one hundred billion thousand” times 😂)
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 The family suite fit all six of us comfortably
✨ Friendly staff + serious retro flair = a stay we’ll never forget

We came to explore more of Victoria, but honestly? The kids would’ve been happy never leaving Hotel Zed.

Hotel Zed also has locations in Tofino and Kelowna.

Our first visit back to Hotel Zed Victoria since t Our first visit back to Hotel Zed Victoria since their renovation—and WOW. 🧡🪩 The retro details blew us away. [hosted]

You can now step into Grandma’s Basement—a groovy, lounge that feels like it was pulled straight from the ‘70s. Pair that with a lobby full of bold colors, vintage flair, and funky design touches, and you’ve got a hotel experience unlike any other.

It’s an easy ferry ride from Vancouver, and with a central location, it’s the perfect base for exploring all the charm of Victoria. You can also borrow bikes, skateboards, longboards, and rollerskates to cruise around in retro style. 🛼🛹🚲

The indoor pool with a waterslide was a massive hit with our kids—especially our five-year-old, who proudly claimed she went down the hot pink waterslide—called “The Zedinator“—one hundred billion thousand times. 😂

We stayed in the family suite, which was comfortable for all six of us and had everything we needed for a fun and cozy stay.

And a huge shoutout to the friendly, welcoming staff—they truly made our visit even more enjoyable.

The viral voicemail tip is making the rounds again The viral voicemail tip is making the rounds again—let’s set the record straight.

🗣️ The myth:
“If you’re lost with no signal, change your voicemail to say where you are.”
❌ The truth: You need a signal to update voicemail. No bars = no update.

✅ What to do if you’re lost:
📞 Call 911 immediately. Don’t wait. Your phone will try to connect to any network.
Ask for Police so they can activate Search and Rescue (SAR).

🧭 Bring a GPS or satellite communicator if you can. They work even without cell service.

💡 SAR is ‘FREE’ in Canada. Don’t hesitate to call.
🌍 Outside Canada? SAR might not be free—know before you go.

✈️ Travel tip: Get insurance that covers SAR if you’re exploring internationally.

Before you go, remember:
1️⃣ Tell someone where you are going, when you expect to return.
2️⃣ Know your limits, build the right skills for your adventures.
3️⃣ Take the 10 Essentials

✅ More safety tips:

🛰️ GPS vs. Phones:
Phones need towers. GPS devices (like inReach or SPOT) don’t. They can send your location or SOS messages without signal. The Garmin inReach Mini 2 is worth every penny (@garminoutdoor).

📍Help SAR find you faster:
Note landmarks or trail signs. Share:
→ Trail name
→ Distance from trailhead
→ Injuries
→ Group size
→ Clothing (bright colours help)

‼️ Myths to ditch:
▪️“Wait it out.” ❌ NO—call right away.
▪️“Keep moving.” ❌ Staying put helps SAR find you.

💬 In a group?
Pick one person to save battery. Only one call to 911 is needed.

🔋 Battery-saving tips:
• Text instead of call
• Avoid scrolling
• Only use phone when needed

Know Before You Go: British Columbia — The Real Know Before You Go: British Columbia — The Real Guide 🇨🇦

Planning a BC trip? Read this before you hike, swim, or ferry-hop your way across the province:

▪️Wildlife is real. Bears, cougars, elk — this is not a zoo. Carry bear spray when in bear country, respect wildlife and do NOT feed wildlife.

▪️ It’s essential to be prepared for a diverse range of experiences, from vibrant city life to stunning natural landscapes.

▪️Distances are wild too. That “short” drive is probably 3 hours and full of zero cell service.

▪️Rain happens — even in July. Especially on the coast. Locals don’t check the forecast, they just wear layers.

▪️Your phone won’t save you. Download maps before you lose service in the mountains (you will).

▪️“Closed” means closed. Parks shut for safety — and they will fine you if you sneak in.

▪️The lakes are ice cold. Yes, even the tropical-looking ones. You’ll want a towel and a hoodie after.

▪️Parks book up fast. Joffre, Garibaldi, and others need advance reservations — or brutal wake-up times.

▪️Flip flops? Rookie move. Even “easy” trails mean roots, rocks, and regret if you’re not in decent shoes.

▪️Touristy = still worth it. Capilano Bridge, Butchart Gardens, Sea to Sky Gondola… busy and beautiful.

▪️Vancouver ≠ Vancouver Island. You can’t drive between them. There’s a ferry. It takes time. Book ahead.

▪️Gas + snacks vanish outside cities. Fill up before you need to. Bathrooms too. Trust us.

▪️Wildfire season is real. Stay updated and always obey fire bans.

▪️We’re on Indigenous land. Take time to learn whose territory you’re visiting, and support Indigenous-owned businesses and guides.

▪️ Stay away from the Canada Geese. They’ll leave you with nightmares 😂.

✌️ Save this for your trip.

Camping food should be fun—not just fuel. Save t Camping food should be fun—not just fuel.
Save this for your next outdoor adventure!

Here are 3 easy camping meals that bring the wow:

1. Tie-Dye Pancakes
Breakfast just got a glow-up. Add a few drops of food coloring to your pancake batter and swirl it into a tie-dye masterpiece. Bonus: Kids love making their own wild creations before devouring them.

2. Mountain Skillet Breakfast
Toss it all in a cast iron skillet and let the magic happen. Our go-to combo: potatoes, onions, peppers, bacon, eggs, and melty cheese. It’s hearty, customizable, easy to prep at home, and totally satisfying.

3. Taco Bags (aka Walking Tacos)
Less mess, more yes. Crush a bag of @takisusa or Doritos, load it up with seasoned ground beef, and top with your fave fixings—cheese, salsa, sour cream, you name it. Stir and eat straight from the bag! *The kids like to open the bag at the top and us adults like to split it down the side.
