With miles of pristine coastline, there are very few beaches that can compete with the beautiful sandy shores of Miami. With the weather usually not dropping below 20, it is perfect beach weather all year round for relaxing in Miami. Florida does not have the nickname of “Sunshine State” for no reason! With its laid-back seaside vibes, we will keep coming back for more.
Well Deserved Relaxation
We were in Florida in January for me to push my limits by completing the Dopey Challenge at Disney World. I knew after all that hard work during training the last year and the Dopey itself, that I would want some relaxation. So, we opted to extend our vacation another week for some time on the beach for some unwinding and relaxing in Miami. We were blessed with great weather in January and though it may be a little ‘cold’ for the locals, for us it was all sunshine and summertime vibes. Plenty of relaxing in Miami was just what my body had ordered after a year of having my life consumed by intense workouts and training runs for Dopey 2019.
The Alexander – All-Suite Oceanfront Resort
We stayed at The Alexander – All-Suite Oceanfront Resort and had a simple, but comfortable, stay. They were in the middle of some renovations, as most hotels along the beach visibly were, but it did not negatively impact our stay. There was still a pool for us to enjoy and a comfortable and spacious suite to sleep in. The only time we knew we were in a construction zone is when we noticed one of the pools was closed and the hallway route to the pool. They had a poster up in the hallway to the pool with their renovation plans and their plan did look fantastic.
Man -O-War Jellyfish
We were surprised how many Man-O-War jellyfish were washed up on the shore each morning. As you’ll notice in the photos below, they are pretty blue balloons with nasty stinging tentacles. I was fascinated by their details but never get too close because you can still get stung when they are on the shore. Their tentacles can extend up to 30 feet!

Art Deco District
What we loved about relaxing along Miami’s South Beach went beyond the beach itself. The famous Art Deco District features the most picturesque buildings from the 1920s to 1940s. The colorful buildings and decor details transport you into a bygone era. It was the first 20th-century neighborhood to be recognized by the National Register of Historic Places. The Art Deco Historic District includes over 800 impressive buildings and structures that were built between 1923 and 1943. It was also interesting to see the vibrancy of South Beach’s Ocean Drive with all the hotels and restaurants lit up at night; it was electrifying!
Relaxing and Unwinding In Miami
To say that Miami beaches are gorgeous is really a massive understatement. From early morning walks on the beach, a romantic sunset stroll, stargazing, enjoying the adorable and bold lifeguard shacks, and making memories digging in the sand with our kids that we will cherish forever, Miami beach was so good to us.
