When most people think of Revelstoke Mountain Resort, they picture deep powder, epic ski days, and some of the best winter terrain in British Columbia.
But summer at Revelstoke Mountain Resort is an entirely different kind of adventure.
Once the snow melts, the mountain transforms into a summer playground filled with alpine hiking, breathtaking viewpoints, family-friendly activities, and adrenaline-filled experiences. Instead of carving through powder, you can explore mountain trails, walk across a suspension bridge above the valley, challenge yourself high in the trees, and race down the mountain on a pipe coaster that feels like a real-life roller coaster.
Located in Revelstoke, British Columbia, this mountain destination sits along the Trans-Canada Highway. Revelstoke is approximately halfway between Vancouver and Calgary, making it an incredible stop on a British Columbia road trip. Surrounded by towering peaks, glacier-fed rivers, forests, and endless outdoor adventures, Revelstoke is the kind of place where adventure comes naturally.
During our visit, we spent two full days exploring Revelstoke Mountain Resort- one day with an Explore Day Pass for hiking, and another with the Adventure Pass, and it quickly became one of our favorite family adventures. While the hiking and mountain views were incredible, it was the combination of outdoor exploration, unique experiences, and plenty of thrills that made this an adventure everyone in our family loved.

The best part about visiting in summer is that you can experience the alpine without needing to be an experienced mountaineer.
The Revelation Gondola makes it easy to gain elevation and access incredible mountain terrain. Within minutes, you leave the valley floor behind and arrive in a completely different landscape filled with fresh mountain air, wildflowers, incredible views, and endless opportunities to explore.
It’s also the perfect family destination because everyone can find something they love.
Some family members may want to hike and take in the scenery. Others may be searching for a little more adrenaline. The Adventure Pass creates the perfect balance, allowing everyone to customize their own mountain adventure.
For our family, that was exactly what made this day so memorable.
What Makes Revelstoke So Special?
Revelstoke is one of those destinations that has something for everyone, which is exactly why it deserves more than just a quick stop on a road trip.
Located between the Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges, Revelstoke combines incredible scenery, outdoor adventure, and a charming mountain-town atmosphere all in one place.
What makes it unique is the variety of experiences available throughout the year. In winter, Revelstoke is famous for world-class skiing and some of the deepest powder in North America. But in summer, the mountains transform into a playground filled with hiking trails, waterfalls, scenic viewpoints, family adventures, and unforgettable outdoor experiences.
Unlike some mountain destinations where the main attraction is simply the view, Revelstoke encourages you to get out and explore.
You can spend the morning riding the gondola and walking across the Skywalk, the afternoon racing down the Pipe Mountain Coaster, and still have time to hike through alpine landscapes or chase waterfalls nearby.
That combination of adventure and accessibility is what makes Revelstoke such a special destination for families.
During our visit, we loved that everyone could experience the mountain in their own way. Some of us wanted the thrill of the coaster and aerial adventure course, while others enjoyed taking a slower pace, exploring the trails, and soaking in the scenery.
After spending two full days at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, we realized this isn’t just a place you visit for one attraction—it’s a destination where you can easily create an entire weekend of memories.

Instead of choosing only one activity, the pass allows you to combine sightseeing, hiking, and adventure experiences into one full mountain day.

For our family, having multiple activities included completely changed the experience.
We weren’t just arriving, taking a few photos, and leaving. We spent hours exploring, challenging ourselves, laughing together, and finding something that everyone genuinely enjoyed.
Is The Revelstoke Mountain Resort Adventure Pass Worth It?
One of the biggest questions families have when planning a trip like this is whether the Adventure Pass is worth it.
For our family, the answer was absolutely yes.
The Adventure Pass turned a simple mountain visit into a full-day experience. Everyone had something they were excited about, and nobody was asking, “What’s next?” because there was always another adventure waiting.
The hikers in our family loved exploring the alpine trails and taking in the mountain scenery.
The thrill-seekers loved the Aerial Adventure Park and Pipe Mountain Coaster.
The kids loved feeling like they were exploring a giant mountain playground.
If you’re only looking for a quick viewpoint stop, there are simpler ways to experience the mountain. But if you want to hike, explore the Skywalk, challenge yourself in the trees, and experience the excitement of the mountain coaster, the Adventure Pass allows you to make a full day out of your visit.
For us, the value came from the variety. Everyone left with a favorite memory.
Riding The Revelation Gondola
The adventure begins before you even reach the hiking trails.
The Revelation Gondola is more than just a way to get up the mountain — it’s the first experience of the day.
As the gondola climbs higher, the landscape changes right in front of you. The forest stretches below, the valley opens up, and the surrounding mountains become more dramatic with every turn.
When we stepped out at the top, the kids immediately noticed the difference.
The air was cooler. The landscape looked completely different. Suddenly, we weren’t just visiting a resort — we were standing in the middle of the mountains.
That feeling of stepping into a completely new environment is one of the things that makes Revelstoke Mountain Resort so special.
Hiking At Revelstoke Mountain Resort: Alpine Views Without The Long Climb
The hiking was one of the biggest highlights of our visit.
There is something magical about walking through an alpine landscape where every direction looks like a postcard. The trails at Revelstoke Mountain Resort showcase everything that makes British Columbia so incredible — rugged peaks, wide-open views, wildflowers, and the feeling of being surrounded by wilderness.
One of the things we loved most was that the gondola gives you a head start. You can experience the alpine without spending hours climbing from the valley floor.
For families, this is a huge bonus.
Kids can experience the excitement of being in the mountains, explore new trails, discover viewpoints, and feel like true adventurers without needing to complete a difficult backcountry hike.
And honestly, the best part of hiking here is simply slowing down.
Stop at the viewpoints. Take the photos. Look around and appreciate where you are.
These are the moments when you realize how lucky we are to have places like this right here in British Columbia.
There were only three trails open when we visited in early July: Split Rock Falls, the Skywalk and Bottoms Up.
We love waterfalls and Split Rock Falls was an easy hike with a great reward. The views at the Skywalk were spectacular. Bottoms Up features some nice meadow views and switchbacks through the shaded forest trails. And of course, soon after our visit, all the other trails opened up. If you’d like to go hiking, we recommend going later in the summer to ensure trails will be fully open for your choosing!
Skywalk: Suspension Bridge Views That Will Blow Your Mind
The Skywalk was one of the most unforgettable parts of our Adventure Pass experience.
The Skywalk includes both a lookout deck and a suspension bridge, giving you two incredible ways to take in the surrounding mountain views.
The Revelstoke Skywalk is approximately 1,690 meters (5,545 feet) above sea level, featuring a 75.5-meter suspension bridge that connects two rocky outcrops.
The lookout deck is the perfect place to stop and appreciate the scale of the landscape. Standing high above the valley with mountains stretching in every direction is one of those moments where you naturally pause and just take it all in.
The views are enormous. Photos truly don’t do it justice.
Then comes the suspension bridge.
Walking across the bridge with the mountains surrounding you creates a completely different perspective. There is something exciting about being suspended above the landscape while taking in the views all around you.
The Skywalk is the perfect mix of adventure and sightseeing.
Whether you’re visiting for the photos, the experience, or simply the chance to see Revelstoke from a completely different viewpoint, this is one stop you won’t want to miss.
Aerial Adventure Park: Three Hours Of High-Flying Family Fun
The Aerial Adventure Park ended up being one of the biggest surprises of our day.
We expected it to be a fun activity to add between hiking and exploring, but it quickly became one of the main highlights.
The course takes you high above the forest with bridges, obstacles, challenges, and a freefall that will push your limits, confidence, and problem-solving skills.
There are different levels of difficulty, making it a great experience for a range of ages and abilities.
Our kids absolutely loved it.
We easily spent three hours working through the aerial course, and the excitement never faded. Every section brought a new challenge, and watching the kids encourage each other, celebrate completing obstacles, and push themselves outside their comfort zones was one of our favorite memories.
It wasn’t just about completing the course — it was about building confidence and seeing the kids realize what they were capable of.
Of course, every family adventure comes with reminders that kids grow faster than we realize.
Olivia was literally one inch too short to participate this time around. She was disappointed at first, but she quickly found the perfect backup plan — an extra ride on the Pipe Mountain Coaster. Honestly, she was pretty happy with that trade. It just gives us another reason to come back when she’s tall enough to take on the course herself.
For Jacob, this was his first aerial adventure course, and it didn’t take long for him to realize that heights were outside his comfort zone. But with a little encouragement, he kept climbing, step by step, until he reached the top and was almost ready to take on the freefall. Seeing him try to do the freefalls, and overcome his fear to at least make it all the way to the top of the course was absolutely incredible.
Pipe Mountain Coaster: The Unanimous Family Favorite
If you ask our family what everyone’s favorite Adventure Pass activity was, the answer was immediate:
The Pipe Mountain Coaster.
This was an instant favorite.
The mountain coaster combines the excitement of a roller coaster with incredible mountain scenery. You control your own speed (up to 42 km/h) as you twist, turn, and race down the mountain.
At first, everyone starts cautiously. Then the confidence kicks in.
The roller coaster-like sections were hands down the biggest thrill of the day. The quick turns, drops, and speed had everyone laughing, cheering, and immediately wanting another ride.
After a full day of hiking and exploring, ending with the Pipe Mountain Coaster was the perfect finale.
The verdict was unanimous: This was the activity everyone wanted to do again. And we did, three more times.
Taking In The Views From The Glacier View Deck
One of the most breathtaking stops at Revelstoke Mountain Resort is the Glacier View Deck, where you’re treated to incredible panoramic views of the surrounding Monashee Mountains and their glaciers.
Standing high above the valley, this viewpoint is the perfect place to slow down and truly take in where you are. The sweeping mountain scenery feels endless, with rugged peaks stretching into the distance and glaciers tucked among the alpine landscape.
After the excitement of the activities, this was a moment to simply pause and appreciate the beauty around us. The kids loved looking out over the mountains and spotting the different peaks, while we enjoyed soaking in the feeling of being surrounded by such a wild and beautiful part of British Columbia.
The Glacier View Deck is also a great reminder that a visit to Revelstoke Mountain Resort isn’t just about adventure — it’s about the experience of being in the mountains. Whether you spend a few minutes taking photos or linger longer to enjoy the views, it’s a stop you won’t want to rush past.
What To Pack For A Summer Day At Revelstoke Mountain Resort
A little preparation goes a long way when spending a full day (or two) exploring Revelstoke Mountain Resort. With so many activities packed into one mountain adventure — from hiking and scenic viewpoints to the Aerial Adventure Park and Pipe Mountain Coaster — you’ll want to arrive ready for a full day outdoors.
The weather in the mountains can also be unpredictable. You may start your morning in warm sunshine at the base of the mountain and find cooler temperatures, wind, or changing conditions once you reach higher elevations. Packing a few essentials will help everyone stay comfortable and make the most of the experience.
We recommend bringing:
Comfortable hiking shoes
Even if you aren’t planning a long hike, comfortable footwear makes every part of the day more enjoyable. Many of the viewpoints and walking paths include uneven terrain, gravel, and natural surfaces, so shoes with good support will help keep everyone comfortable while exploring.
Layers
Mountain weather can change quickly and even a sunny summer day can feel cooler at elevation. Temperatures at higher elevations can feel much cooler than they do in town, especially in the morning or when the wind picks up. Lightweight layers are ideal because you can easily add or remove clothing throughout the day.
Water bottles
Between hiking, walking around the resort, and high-energy activities like the Aerial Adventure Park, staying hydrated is important. Bring refillable water bottles so everyone can keep drinking throughout the day without needing to stop your adventure.
Snacks
A full day of mountain adventures works up an appetite — especially for kids! Pack plenty of snacks to keep energy levels up between activities. Having familiar snacks on hand can also help avoid the “I’m hungry” meltdown halfway through an exciting day. If you ride the gondola all the way to the top, Mackenzie Outpost offers food and drinks, making it a convenient spot to take in the views with stunning views.
Sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen
The alpine sun can feel much stronger at higher elevations. Sunglasses and hats provide extra comfort while exploring open areas, and sunscreen is a must for a day spent outdoors.
Camera or extra phone storage
You’ll want to capture the views from the gondola, the Skywalk, the suspension bridge, and all the little moments in between. Make sure your camera or phone has enough storage because there will be no shortage of photo opportunities.
Bug spray
Depending on the season and conditions, bugs can be part of any mountain adventure. A small bottle of bug spray tucked into your backpack can make relaxing at viewpoints or enjoying trails much more comfortable.

Revelstoke Mountain Resort offers so much more than a quick mountain stop. To truly experience everything available during the summer season, plan enough time to explore, play, and enjoy the incredible scenery.
Here are a few things to know before you visit:
Plan for a full day
There is much more to do than simply ride the gondola and take in the views. Between the hiking trails, scenic viewpoints, Skywalk, Pipe Mountain Coaster, and Aerial Adventure Park, you can easily spend an entire day exploring the mountain.
Check activity requirements ahead of time
Some activities have specific requirements, including height restrictions and age guidelines. If you’re visiting with kids, check these details before arriving so you can plan your day and avoid disappointment.
We learned this firsthand when Olivia was just an inch too short to participate in the Aerial Adventure Park (our pre-trip measurement said she was good to go, but their measuring area said no). While she wasn’t able to join the course, she still had an incredible day and got an extra turn on the Pipe Mountain Coaster instead.
Arrive earlier in the day
Starting your adventure earlier gives you more time to enjoy each activity without feeling rushed. It also gives you flexibility if you want to stop for photos, take breaks, or simply sit and enjoy the mountain views.
Don’t rush
Some of our favorite moments weren’t part of a scheduled activity. They were the quiet moments spent standing at viewpoints, looking across the mountains, and taking in how incredible the scenery was as a family.
Give yourself time to slow down, enjoy the views, and appreciate being surrounded by the beauty of British Columbia’s mountains.

Before your visit, check the latest information so you know what experiences are available during your trip. There were only three hiking trails open when we visited at the beginning of July, and we were hoping for more.
