But visit during the summer, and you’ll discover an entirely different side of the mountain.

Instead of ski boots and snow-covered slopes, you’ll find scenic gondola rides, alpine hiking trails, family-friendly adventures, waterfalls, breathtaking viewpoints, and adrenaline-filled activities that make Revelstoke Mountain Resort one of British Columbia’s best summer destinations.

The newest addition to the resort’s summer lineup is the Revelstoke Skywalk, an elevated mountain experience featuring a suspension bridge, cliffside walkway, and panoramic viewing platform overlooking the Columbia Valley. It offers incredible alpine views without requiring a challenging backcountry hike, making it an accessible adventure for families, couples, and visitors of all ages.

Riding The Revelation Gondola To The Revelstoke Skywalk

The adventure begins before you even reach the Skywalk.

The Revelation Gondola takes you high above the resort, offering incredible views as you climb from the base area into the alpine. The gondola ride itself is an experience, with the landscape changing dramatically as you gain elevation.

Below you, the town of Revelstoke sits along the Columbia River, surrounded by towering mountain peaks. As the gondola rises, the dense forests give way to open ski runs, rocky mountain landscapes, and sweeping views in every direction.

It is the perfect way to start your day because it gives you a chance to slow down and appreciate just how massive the surrounding landscape really is.

One of our favorite parts was watching the scenery change throughout the ride. Every few minutes, another mountain peak appeared, and every angle seemed to offer another photo opportunity.

Once you reach the top, it doesn’t take long to understand why this location was chosen for the Skywalk.

The views are unforgettable.

The Views:

The Revelstoke Skywalk is designed to let visitors experience the mountains from a completely new perspective.

The experience begins with an easy forest walk before reaching the suspension bridge. While the bridge is secure and family-friendly, it still provides that exciting feeling of adventure as it gently moves beneath your feet.

Our kids loved the experience, especially the little bit of movement as everyone crossed. It added just enough excitement without feeling intimidating.

As you continue along the Skywalk, the views continue to open up. The elevated walkway leads you toward a viewing platform that extends out over the mountainside, creating an incredible feeling of being surrounded by the wilderness.

Standing there, you can look out across the Columbia Valley, spot surrounding mountain peaks, and take in the scale of the landscape around you.

It’s one of those places where photos simply don’t do it justice.

You can capture the view, but you can’t capture the feeling of standing above the valley with the mountains stretching endlessly in every direction.

We recommend slowing down and really taking in the experience here. Don’t simply cross the bridge and continue on—take a few extra minutes to soak in the views, watch the clouds move across the mountains, and appreciate just how incredible the landscape is around you.

And if you arrive on a cloudy day and the mountains are hidden, don’t give up! Mountain weather can change quickly. Give it some time, explore the area, and come back for another look. That’s exactly what happened for us—the clouds eventually lifted, revealing the incredible mountain views that make the Skywalk such a special experience.

One of the first questions people ask when they hear about the Revelstoke Skywalk is, “How high up is it?”

After riding the Revelation Gondola to the top of the mountain, you’ll find yourself at approximately 1,650 metres (5,400 feet) above sea level, surrounded by some of the most impressive scenery in British Columbia.

From the viewing platform, you’ll be looking out over the Columbia Valley with the valley floor approximately 1,250 metres (4,101 feet) below. From this elevation, the views stretch across the Columbia Valley, with the Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges rising in every direction. Below, the town of Revelstoke looks tiny against the massive landscape, and the winding Columbia River creates a beautiful contrast against the forests and mountains.

The elevation is what makes the experience so special—you get the feeling of being completely immersed in the mountains without needing to complete a challenging backcountry hike.

Even if it feels warm in downtown Revelstoke, temperatures at the top of the mountain can be much cooler.

We recommend:

Comfortable walking shoes or runners
Layers that can easily be added or removed
A light jacket or windbreaker
Sunglasses and sunscreen
A water bottle
A camera or fully charged phone

Mountain weather can change quickly, so it is always better to bring an extra layer.

What Happens If It Is Cloudy At The Revelstoke Skywalk?

Don’t assume a cloudy day means you won’t have a great experience.

Mountain weather changes quickly, and clouds can move in and out throughout the day. When we first arrived, some of the mountain views were hidden, but after spending some time exploring and returning later, the clouds lifted and revealed the incredible scenery we were hoping to see.

If the mountains are hidden when you arrive, give it some time. Explore the area, enjoy the experience, and check back again—the views may completely transform.

What Is The Best Time Of Day To Visit The Revelstoke Skywalk?

The best time depends on what you are hoping for.

Morning visits often mean fewer crowds and softer lighting for photos. Afternoon visits can provide different lighting across the mountains and valley.

The most important thing is giving yourself enough time to enjoy the experience without rushing. The Skywalk is not something you want to quickly check off your list—you want time to stop, look around, and take it all in.

Our Recommended One-Day Itinerary

If you’re visiting Revelstoke Mountain Resort for the day, here’s how we’d recommend spending your time to make the most of your visit.

Morning

Arrive shortly after the resort opens to beat the crowds and enjoy cooler morning temperatures. Start your day with a ride on the Revelation Gondola, taking in the incredible views as you climb into the alpine.

Once at the top, make your way to the Revelstoke Skywalk before it gets busy. Take your time crossing the suspension bridge, soaking in the views, and snapping plenty of photos. If the clouds are hanging around, don’t rush—mountain weather can change quickly, and you may be rewarded with even better views if you wait a little while.

Before heading back, take the short walk to Split Rock Falls. It’s an easy hike that adds another beautiful perspective to your morning on the mountain.

Lunch

After exploring the summit, stop for lunch before your afternoon adventures. If you’re staying on the mountain, Mackenzie Outpost is a great option for a a meal with a spectacular view. Back at the base area, Rockford Bar & Grill is a perfect spot to refuel before the afternoon.

Afternoon

Now it’s time to add a little adrenaline to your day.

Start with the Pipe Mountain Coaster, one of our favorite attractions at the resort. Whether you take it slow to enjoy the scenery or “let the brakes off” for a faster ride, it’s an experience the whole family will love. You’ll need to join a virtual queue before you make your way up on the gondola. We never waited more than around 10 minutes to ride.

Next, head over to the Aerial Adventure Park. We thought we’d spend about an hour here but ended up staying nearly three. With multiple ropes courses, climbing challenges, unique little bridges and obstacles to cross, it’s easy to lose track of time as you work your way through the different courses.

If you still have time before the gondola closes, consider taking another ride to the top. The afternoon light often creates a completely different perspective of the mountains, making it worth revisiting your favorite viewpoints.

Evening

Finish your day by heading back into downtown Revelstoke. Wander the charming streets, browse the local shops, and enjoy dinner at one of the town’s many restaurants. If you’re staying overnight—as we recommend—you’ll have the chance to experience even more of what makes Revelstoke such a special mountain town.

Is The Revelstoke Skywalk Worth It?

If you’re already planning to visit Revelstoke Mountain Resort, then absolutely—the Skywalk is well worth experiencing.

The views are spectacular, the suspension bridge adds a fun sense of adventure, and it’s one of the easiest ways to enjoy an alpine viewpoint without tackling a long or strenuous hike. It’s also an experience that everyone can enjoy together, whether you’re travelling with young kids, grandparents, or a group of friends.

That said, if you’re driving several hours just to visit the Skywalk and then heading home, we probably wouldn’t recommend making the trip for this attraction alone.

The Skywalk itself is relatively short, and while the scenery is incredible, it’s best enjoyed as part of everything else Revelstoke Mountain Resort has to offer.

Where the Skywalk really shines is as one stop on a full day of adventure. Pair it with a ride on the Pipe Mountain Coaster, challenge yourself in the Aerial Adventure Park, explore one of the mountain’s hiking trails, and take time to enjoy the spectacular views from the Revelation Gondola. When combined with the Adventure Pass, the Skywalk becomes part of an unforgettable day that’s well worth the drive.

For us, the Skywalk was the perfect way to slow down between the more adrenaline-filled activities. It offered a chance to simply appreciate the scenery and reminded us that some of the best travel experiences aren’t always about thrills—they’re about taking in the incredible places around you.
