Where is Sandpiper Resort?
Sandpiper Resort is in Harrison Mills, British Columbia, only 90 minutes from Vancouver and 20 minutes from the town of Harrison Hot Springs. Sandpiper Resort is home to Sandpiper Golf Course, Rowena’s Inn on the River, and the Clubhouse Restaurant. The Sandpiper Resort was close to all the action while still feeling far away from the crowds.
If you are an avid golfer, you will not want to miss the Sandpiper golf course, named one of British Columbia’s best resort courses, and the #1 golf course in the Fraser Valley. The Sandpiper is also renowned for its fishing packages and the opportunities it provides to view eagles during the largest winter bald eagle migration in the world.
Eagle Migration Viewing
Sandpiper Resort is also one of the best places to view eagles during the world’s biggest winter eagle migration, which happens right here in Harrison Mills in beautiful British Columbia. It is a sight you will not want to miss, with peak viewing happening from mid-November to December.
Wander through their forest walk or watch the eagles soar from the eagle observation deck. The eagle walk starts a short distance from the Sandpiper parking lot. Follow the well-placed eagle directional and interpretive signage through the forest to the eagle viewing gazebo. When eagle viewing at Sandpiper Resort, you are looking out on the Chehalis Flats, the resting grounds for the spawning salmon and migrating eagles. It is important to stay out of the flats from October through February, to not disturb the eagles and endanger salmon eggs.
Even if you are not visiting during the world’s largest winter bald eagle gathering, we still encourage you to stop by this trail for an easy and peaceful wander.
Here is a great map of the property so that you can find your way around.

Accommodations
If you are looking for comfortable and modern cabins, with breathtaking views, you will want to consider the Sandpiper Resort.
We loved how these Harrison cabin rentals honored the wildlife and salmon that are indigenous and sacred to the area.
The new luxury nature cabins are tastefully decorated, and have the same rustic feel as the classic cabins, but with contemporary touches. These cabins can accommodate larger groups and are perfect for a large family, get-together, or girlfriend getaway.
For cabins without the extra bells and whistles of luxury, another option is the classic rustic cottages that honor the history of the original owners, the Pretty’s. Enjoy incredible views of the Harrison River and mountains that will take your breath away.
Another accommodation option, Rowena’s Inn on the River, is a colonial 1920s themed inn, with European flair. Like the classic cabins, this adorable inn honors the history of the original owners, the Pretty’s. It is a popular destination for weddings and special events.
Luxury Nature Series Cabins
We stayed in a three-bedroom luxury nature series cabin called Chinook. There are two three-bedroom cabins, the other named Kermode.
These pictures are just a sample of what the Sandpiper Resort has to offer.
Luxury
The cabin was incredible, with every part of it feeling so luxurious: the wonderful showers to the simple but comfortable and cozy bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a wood fireplace, and vaulted ceilings. It was clean, modern, and felt huge, even with six of us.
The only thing better was the views!

Family Time
We loved our undivided and comfortable family time. From sitting in front of the fire with toasty toes telling stories, spending some time reading a good book, enjoying a delicious meal in-cabin from the River’s Edge Clubhouse Restaurant, or learning to play a new game with a ton of laughter, we loved our time spent together.
If you are looking to disconnect to re-connect, one of these cabins is an excellent choice! Our entire family loved it; a memory of a lifetime. It was a fantastic way to unwind from the daily life routines.
We started off the mornings with a warm drink on the deck, watching the sunrise and enjoying the spectacular views before exploring the area further.
Comfort & Relaxation
The cabin was clean and welcoming, felt cozy, and the beds were comfortable. With super stimulating days exploring, we had no problem falling asleep when our heads hit the pillow. We were surrounded by complete quiet at night, in a warm cabin while arctic air and wind made their way through the region. We were so cozy that as soon as we entered the cabin, we immediately forgot about how cold it was outside.
Our oldest girls, Madison and Sadie, loved putting on the too-big robes and feeling like big girls as they relaxed and read fairytales.
Where To Eat
River’s Edge Clubhouse Restaurant
Located on the property of the Sandpiper Resort, the River’s Edge Clubhouse is a convenient and delicious option for a meal with a view. The menu had a great selection for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. If you are staying in a cabin on the property, it is also a cozy option to take your food to-go to enjoy in your cabin.
Stop by the River’s Edge Clubhouse after a round of golf, eagle viewing, or a long day of adventuring.
