We are not big fans of summer having to end, but if it really does HAVE TO, there is no better way to kiss summer goodbye and welcome Fall than wandering through Sunflower fields. Sunflowers can also teach us a thing or two about getting through the colder months in British Columbia: Be bright, sunny and positive, spread seeds of happiness, rise, shine, and hold your head high.
Chilliwack Sunflower Festival
This is Chilliwack’s second annual Sunflower festival and it features 35 different Sunflower varieties to enjoy and six acres of giant Mammoth Sunflowers, that can reach heights of more than 12 feet, to walk through in their sunflower fields. We enjoyed the fields so much last year that we decided to head there again and were even more impressed with the setup this year. So many more photo props for gorgeous photos!
This year, there’s also a stunning three-acre field of 54 varieties of Dahlias. You’ll also find some games for the kids and a few food trucks so satisfy your hunger after running through the fields. They also offer a chance to pick your own flowers to take home; my Sunflowers are a bright and sunny reminder of beauty every time I look outside my kitchen window. A sun-kissed life is a beautiful life!
It also worked out well that there was a gorgeous day to wander the sunflower fields while I was 35 weeks pregnant. Since this is our last adventure buddy we will be adding to the family, it was great to take the time to enjoy the fields and take a few pregnancy photos — something I did not do much of this time around.
