The admission fees (2023) for the Butchart Gardens vary depending on the season and type of ticket purchased.

  • Children under three years old are admitted free of charge.
  • Adult general admission tickets start at $21.80 CAD for off-season periods, and peak season tickets cost around $39.50 CAD.
  • Youth general admission tickets start at $10.90 CAD for off-season periods, and peak season tickets cost around $19.75 CAD.
  • Child general admission tickets start at $2.00 CAD for off-season periods, and peak season tickets cost around $3.00 CAD.

The Butchart Gardens are open seven days a week, except Christmas Day when the gardens are closed. The opening hours vary depending on the season, so do check their website before your trip!

The best time to visit is during peak season (April – October). However, the gardens look beautiful year-round and there are many special events that take place throughout the year!

The best way to travel from Vancouver to Butchart Gardens is by ferry. The entire ferry process starting with arrival at the Tsawwassen terminal and travel into Victoria’s downtown core will take approximately 3 hours. Or, use air travel to get to the island.

Once you are downtown Victoria, you can then take a bus or taxi to Butchart Gardens which takes another 30 minutes. Alternatively, there are also a number of other transportation options such as private tour buses, and car rentals.

The best option for you will depend on your budget, how easily you want to get around (though the downtown core is very walkable), and how quickly you want to get there.
